Pushing the boundaries of convention with the aim to make a red wine with minimal sulphur, but retain the purity and expression of the grapes and the land. This is a wine from Finniss River, located 50 kilometres south of Adelaide on the Fleurieu Peninsula. “Free Red” is a “slow wine” with a perfect balance in tannin structure and fruit.
Harvest 2nd week of March 2016. After extended fermentation and maturation on skins for 42 days, this Shiraz has been aged in used oak barrels for 12 months. Along the way the strong tannin influence protects the purity of the fruit, and only minimal sulphur has been added at bottling.
